Icecream Slideshow Maker can turn a bunch of photographs into a slideshow. The program’s interface is very nice and neat. The whole process of creating a slideshow is incredibly easy. As a first step, you need to select the pictures you are going to use. This can be done one by one, or as a complete folder. As input, the application supports various image formats (PNG, JPG, BMP); regrettably, such a popular format as GIF is not supported.
Although you can use the default transition between the slides, it is also possible to set other transition effects from a list of over 25 items, and, luckily, you don’t have to use the same one for the whole presentation. As an additional effect, you can use audio background. During the creation process you can preview the resulting slideshow. Once it looks as expected, you can proceed to export the results. In this regard, two different methods are allowed. If you want to share it via a disc or a USB stick, you can create a standard video. There are various output resolutions (even HD) to choose from; but disappointingly, only MKV format is supported. When I tested the application, it seemed to me that it took too much time to render the video. Also, if you want to share the video on the Internet, there is also the possibility of uploading it to YouTube, using your own account.
In general, the greatest advantages of Icecream Slideshow Maker are its usability and no price. However, this software tool is very limited compared to other applications that allow creating presentations.
